Hello
I’m Mark Simpson, founder of Simpson Amble Associates.
I help sole traders and small and medium-sized businesses understand their data privacy responsibilities and put practical ways of managing information in place.
My approach is supportive and collaborative. I’ll help you make sense of the requirements, identify what matters to your business and develop documents, processes and actions that work in practice—not simply provide you with a collection of empty templates.
My Story
My career began in information technology and has developed over more than 29 years through technical, account management, project and programme management roles.
Throughout that time, I have worked with organisations, customers and delivery teams to introduce new services, manage change and bring together people with different needs and perspectives. This experience taught me that good information management is not achieved through policies and technology alone. It also depends on people understanding what is expected of them and having practical processes they can follow.
As my interest in information governance developed, I completed professional training in UK GDPR, data protection and ISO 27001 information security management.
I created Simpson Amble Associates to bring this knowledge and experience to organisations that may not need, or have access to, a full-time privacy or information governance specialist.
Today, I help sole traders and small and medium-sized businesses understand the information they hold, the responsibilities that come with it and the steps they can take to manage it more confidently. This can include reviewing existing arrangements, developing privacy documentation, creating practical processes, delivering training and helping businesses turn requirements into manageable actions.
My aim is not simply to tell you what the rules say. It is to work alongside you, explain why they matter and help you build an approach that is appropriate for your organisation, your customers and the way you work.
